[서울=NSP통신] 도남선 기자 = After its historical debut in Canada and LA Korean Festival last month, the yudeung festival lights up the night sky of Jinju.

The 2013 Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival has been the festival of all Korean festivals for some time. Why don't we check out the opening ceremony of next 13 days of beautiful illumination.

An hour before the opening ceremony, people are filling the streets with their own yudeung. People of Jinju's 31 counties and townships started marching from the musical fountain to the historic streets of Manggyeung-dong, lighting up the festival.

The festival is truly lit up by not only the citizens of Jinju but in unison with visitors from abroad.

The 2013 Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival officially began with the initial lighting ceremony at the Manggyeung-dong special stage on the evening of October 1st. The Namgang River night was soon filled with splendid sights of yudeung hinting a prelude of 13 days of festivity.

Flowing swiftly through the heart of the city, hundreds of giant yudeung were floating on Namgang River luminating the Jinju Fortress and the riverside with palette of colors.

With the slogan"Water, Fire, Light, and Hope", the yudeung festival is just starting to heat up.

There are visitors with tents to attend the yudeung festival. The famous Bridge of Love connecting the Namgang River continues its popularity from last year.

The countless number of crowds only predicted the success and various stories to come during the next 13 days of the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival.

The nationwide artist gathering: Gaecheon Art Festival, Hallyu's next phase: Korean Drama Festival, Jinju National Bullfighting Contest and more are right here in Jinju: the city of tradition and future.
