(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = In the second quarter of 2025, Korean companies achieved an overwhelming market share in the global high-bandwidth memory(HBM) market.

According to Counterpoint Research's latest memory semiconductor tracker, SK Hynix ranked first with 62%, while Samsung Electronics ranked third with 17%.

Micron ranked second, following SK Hynix, with a 21% share. Combined, K-HBM accounts for approximately 79% of the total market, demonstrating that Korean companies dominate the global HBM market.

Samsung Electronics’ market share was lower than expected in the second quarter, but it is expected to expand once it begins supplying HBM3E to NVIDIA in the fourth quarter of this year and exports of HBM4 begin in earnest next year. The company forecasts that Samsung Electronics' HBM market share will exceed 30% by 2026.

Counterpoint Research Director Jeong-gu Choi analyzed, “HBM3 development is underway, centered around China’s CXMT, but due to technical issues such as operating speed and heat generation, it will be difficult to ship this year and it will be possible in the second half of next year. Huawei’s own HBM is in the early stages, with the speed being less than half that of general products,” and predicted, “In the long term, SK Hynix and Samsung will lead the HBM market.”
