(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = Samsung Electronics and Tesla have signed a contract to supply artificial intelligence(AI) chips to be manufactured at Samsung’s new semiconductor plant in Texas.

The contract amount is $16.5 billion(approximately KRW 22.8 trillion), and the contract period runs from 2025 to the end of 2033. The chip to be supplied this time is the A16, which will be used in Tesla’s AI autonomous driving system, humanoid robots, and data centers.

This collaboration helps Samsung Electronics secure new U.S.-based customers, strengthen its foundry business, and boost its stock price.

This collaboration is seen as a partnership that aligns the future strategies of both companies: Tesla's AI-centric strategy and Samsung Electronics' expansion of its global foundry capabilities.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s stock price rose more than 4% during trading on the 28th due to this announcement, and Samsung Electronics’ stock price recovered to the 70,000 won range.

After Samsung Electronics announced the foundry contract, Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Samsung’s large new Texas factory will be dedicated to producing Tesla’s next-generation AI6 chip,” and “The $16.5 billion figure is just the minimum, and the actual production volume is likely to be several times higher.”
