(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = KG Mobility(KGM) is pursuing technological advancement through advanced development of Level 4 autonomous driving based on cooperation with autonomous driving specialized companies possessing core technologies.

Korando Emotion(now Korando EV), a late-night autonomous taxi developed by KGM through technical collaboration with SWM, began taxi transportation service in the autonomous driving pilot operation area in Gangnam-gu, Seoul last month.

The two companies signed an MOU for technical cooperation in 2022 regarding the preliminary development of Level 4 autonomous driving for urban driving.

Through the MOU, KGM supported interface-related technologies such as longitudinal and lateral control of Korando Emotions, dynamic information related to vehicle response, and vehicle control network. SWM developed autonomous vehicles by installing various hardware required for autonomous driving, including software and sensors related to autonomous driving.

Unlike self-driving buses that operate on designated routes, zoned self-driving taxi services have a higher level of difficulty in self-driving technology as passengers have to drive to wherever they want based on calls within a certain area.
