(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Four companies, including Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, Tesla, and Volkswagen, take corrective action(recall). The main defects are said to be the risk of fire due to insufficient durability.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport(MOLIT) announced on the 26th that 456,977 vehicles of 11 models manufactured, imported and sold by Hyundai Motor Company, Kia Motors, Volkswagen, and Teslait will voluntarily be recalled due to manufacturing defects discovered in them.

A design flaw in the engine starter motor of the Hyundai Genesis G80 and EQ900 has been discovered, raising the possibility of fire. The G80 recall involves 198,947 vehicles produced between July 2013 and January 2019. The EQ900 is affected by the recall, with 37,571 units produced between July 2015 and December 2018 set to be recalled starting on the 27th.

A defect in the driver’s seat belt warning system was also found in four models, including Tesla’s Model 3, Model Y, Model X, and Model S. The problem is that the warning does not work properly even if the seat belt is not fastened. The affected models are 2,819 units produced from March 2018 to January of this year.

The Volkswagen ID.4 82kWh also had an issue where the speedometer and rear camera screen were not displayed due to an error in the electronic control information unit software. The issue affects 4,886 units produced from January 2020 to May of last year, and corrective measures will be taken starting on the 28th.
