(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = KT Group is strengthening its artificial intelligence(AI) alliance by investing KRW 33 billion in the Series B round of Rebellions, Korean AI semiconductor design(fabless) startup.

KT Group’s KT, KT Cloud, and KT Investment said that they will invest KRW 20 billion, KRW 10 billion, and KRW 3 billion, respectively, in Rebellions’ Series B round.

This is the second investment following KT’s investment of KRW 30 billion and KT Investment’s investment of KRW 3.5 billion in 2022.

Based on this investment, Rebellions is accelerating the development of ‘REBEL’, a semiconductor that can infer up to 100B AI model. Rebellions is an important partner in KT’s AI hardware field, and has contributed to the commercialization of KT Cloud’s NPU infrastructure service by developing NPU(neural network processing unit) ‘Atom’ in cooperation with KT. Atom was also partially applied to the lightweighting of KT’s super-sized AI ‘Belief’.

KT Group plans to strengthen its competitiveness in AI infrastructure and services by applying ‘REBEL’ to on-device AI(AI that collects and computes information on the device itself without using a separate cloud server), which has recently attracted new attention, and actively utilizing various AI semiconductor lineups released by Rebellion in the future.
