(서울=NSP통신) soon ki Lee Journali = Doubleugames recently announced its position on a class action filed against platform companies such as Google and Apple related to social casinos.

The company said in a statement posted on the website that the lawsuit is not for Doubleu games, but for illegal gambling based on a wide range of state laws on virtual coins, social casino purchase chips, etc., targeting platform operators.

The plaintiff in the lawsuit appears to regard the social casinos as illegal gambling based on the broad interpretation of the laws of various states in the United States, and have filed a lawsuit against the platform operators who served the social casino.

Doubleugames said in a statement that no state in the United States currently judges or interprets social casinos as illegal gambling. It also explained that the plaintiff’s argument is a one-sided argument based on a wide range of interpretations for platform operators.

“Sciplay and Playtika, social casino competitors listed on the US NASDAQ, are also not affected by this issue,” the company said, “The social casino market is worth 8 trillion won per year as of 2020, and is a game genre that accounts for a significant part of the U.S. game market.”
