(서울=NSP통신) soon ki Lee Journali = SK Hynix releases the world’s first DDR5 DRAM.
DDR5 is a next-generation DRAM standard, which is an ultra-high-speed, high-capacity product optimized for big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
SK Hynix announced that it has provided samples to major partners such as Intel since it developed the world’s first 16Gb DDR5 in November 2018, and has completed various tests, operation verification, and compatibility verification.
This product of SK Hynix is up to 1.8 times faster than the 3200Mbps of the previous generation, DDR4, from 4800Mbps to 5600Mbps. 5,600Mbps is a speed that can deliver about 9 FHD(Full-HD)-class movies(5GB) in 1 second. In addition, the operating voltage has been reduced from 1.2V to 1.1V, reducing power consumption by 20%.
It also features an error correction circuit(ECC, Error Correcting Code) built-in inside the chip, allowing it to correct even 1-bit errors of a DRAM cell that can be generated by various causes.
