(서울=NSP통신) soon ki Lee Journali = Kakao Page Corp. has acquired Kross Pictures, Inc., a production company that has made films and dramas in India, Japan, China, and the United States. Kakao Page secured a 49% stake in Kross Pictures by investing 5.88 billion won.
Kross Pictures has accumulated global production know-how by carrying out about 50 content projects in a total of five countries, including Korea, India, Japan, China and the United States.
Through this acquisition, Kakao Page and Kross Pictures are planning to create a ‘Global Super IP’ together. Kakao Page is also differentiated from ‘Super Webtoon Project’ that has been carried out previously, and plans to produce videos targeting the global market from the original plan with Kross Pictures.
The company plans to continue its “Global Super IP Projects,” which combines Kakao Page’s numerous competitive original IPs and Kross Pictures’ know-how in global production.
Lee Jin-soo, CEO of Kakao Page, said, “Kross Pictures, which has accumulated know-how by advancing ahead to countries such as Japan, China, and India, which are major global bases of Kakao Page, is particularly excellent in planning and development capabilities based on the original IP. Kakao Page will create Super IPs that will captivate the global world with Kross Pictures, which has an eye, strategy, and production ability to identify the value of the original IP.”
