(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = Hyundai Rotem Company won a contract for the delivery and maintenance of 48 cars of Cairo Line No. 2 subway trains, which costs 150.8 billion won from the National Authority for Tunnels(NTA) under the Ministry of Transport, Egypt on Dec 31, 2018(local time).
Through this project, Hyundai Rotem Company will supply 48 cars, which will be operated from Cairo Line No. 2 of 21.6km in total length in 20 stations to the National Authority for Tunnels(NAT), Egypt by 2021, and will also maintain the maintenance of the vehicle until 2031.
The 48 cars of Cairo Line No. 2 consist of a total of 6 units of 8 cars per 1 unit, which can reach speeds up to 80 km/h. Hyundai Rotem Company plans to deliver high-quality vehicles optimized for local operations based on accumulated experience in carrying out the Cairo Line No. 1 and 3 subway trains business, including an air conditioner that can maintain the comfortable temperature in the room in preparation for the heat of Egypt.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Rotem Company was awarded the contract to supply vehicles to all Cairo subway lines, which consist of three lines from Line No. 1 to 3.
