(Seoul=NSP News Agency) jonghyuk Kim Journalist = Samsung Electronics announced that the reason Galaxy Note 7 combustion is defects of battery itself.

Samsung Electronics reenacted combustions in the large-scale charging-discharging test with 200 thousand products and 30 thousand batteries, confirmed combustions on battery the A and the B which is used on Note 7 because of different reasons.

UL analyzed that they cannot find any problem related combustion of the Note 7, and the A battery has problems that being pressed on the corner of upper side and thin separation membrane, cause short inside of the battery making combustion. In the B battery, unusual fuse-bump, unattached insulation tape and thin separation membrane occurred combustion inside battery.

Exponent that is the professional scientific technique analysis organization of American, also did a delicate analysis across the product and revealed that it is not found any factors of hardware and software may cause combustion.

The A battery has been analyzed that the main factor causing combustion is being pressed on the corner of jelly roll around the cathode tab. The B battery has unusual fuse-bump and this causes destruction of insulation tape and thin separation membrane problems.

Dongjin Ko, the president of Samsung said, “we adduced the goal of battery in order to manufacture innovative Note 7, and feel strongly responsible for not checking and verification the product before releasing it.” He revealed “we are going to keep innovation of stability of products by means of strengthening management system for pursuing the quality of products.”
