(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Hyundai and Kia set a new record for eco-friendly vehicle exports last year. Hybrid vehicle exports increased by more than 120,000 units year-on-year, leading the growth in eco-friendly vehicle exports.

Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors have released preliminary figures for last year's exports, with eco-friendly vehicles, including hybrid and electric vehicles, up 3% year-on-year to 707,853 units.

This is the largest ever export of eco-friendly vehicles, surpassing the previous largest export in 2023. Compared to 2020, when more than 270,000 vehicles were exported, this is a nearly 160% increase. Over the same period, the share of green vehicles in total exports grew from 17% to more than 32%.

Hyundai-Kia's Tucson Hybrid was the most exported eco-friendly model with 93,547 units. Hyundai followed the Tucson Hybrid with 73,353 units of Kona Hybrid and 68,227 units of Ioniq 5. Kia exported 69,545 units of Niro Hybrid, 42,488 units of EV6, and 38,297 units of Sportage Hybrid.

In particular, hybrid vehicle exports increased by 44.6% year-on-year to 397,200 units. This accounted for 56.1% of all eco-friendly vehicle exports.
